About Cambridge Camera Club

Cambridge Camera Club is one of the oldest clubs in East Anglia. It was founded in 1902, when photography had become more accessible, with the launch of the Box Brownie (1900). Active in external competitions the club is the only club within the East Anglian Federation to win the PAGB Print Championship with many individual members, past and present, who regularly achieve awards and distinctions with recognised photographic bodies.

How do we operate?

The club season runs from August to May. We offer a full and varied programme of weekly meetings structured around talks, competitions and members evenings. We also encourage members to develop their photography skills, through the Special Interest Groups held monthly. These offer sessions on Portrait, Digital Techniques, practical workshops and opportunities to gain feedback on your photography and advice on working towards a distinction as well as critique on good club photography. These meetings are informal, informative and fun. The Members' website provides a Lightbox for Members to share images with comments, a Forum for wide-ranging discussions and two on-line Members' competitions. The season culminates in an Annual Exhibition of Prints and PDI’s, which runs for 1 week at the end of April with awards presented by the Mayor and our sponsors, to whom we are extremely thankful.

With such a long, rich history and continuing success, it is no surprise that the club has a full and active membership, capped at 200. We operate a waiting list, so if you would like to know more and possibly apply to join, please complete our Membership Application form.
